2012 AHR Expo Pumps Up the HVACR Industry
What a week in Chicago! There’s nothing quite like the yearly ASHRAE Winter Conference along with the AHR Expo to get the year started in such a positive fashion! Chicago has a unique relationship with the Show. You’d think that the weather might dampen the appeal, but no. In fact, four of the largest shows have taken place in Chicago and the exhibitors and attendees made the 2012 AHR Expo the largest in the Show’s illustrious 82-year history.
With the 2012 Show hosting more than 2,000 exhibiting companies from over 30 countries from around the globe, and nearly 60,000 visitors from all 50 states and over 120 countries walking the floor to see what’s new…no wonder it’s a contractor, engineer, facility manager, OEM, and other HVACR industry professional’s playground.
The Bell & Gossett team unveiled its new booth (#4322) with an impressive number of new products that highlight their drive for greater energy efficiency, greener products and sustainable technologies. In this challenging economy, it is obvious that HVACR professionals are looking for more innovation so as to not be left behind, and to drive future growth.
According to the Show Daily, 70% of exhibitors believe 2012 will be an excellent or good year for business and 60% say is will be much better or better than 2011. Other survey findings included:
- 76% of exhibitors plan to introduce a new products
- 87% of new products improve efficiency
- Hospital/Health Care is seen as the best market followed by large commercial and manufacturing/industrial
- 73% said that incentive programs help increase the adoption of energy-efficient products and technologies
The new products on display at AHR Expo for Bell & Gossett and other brands of Xylem RCW were:
- Bell & Gossett ESP System Syzer®
- Bell & Gossett Ultra Setter™ Pressure Independent Control Valve
- Bell & Gossett Circuit Sentry Flo-Setter™ Valve
- Bell & Gossett ESP-PLUS® Pump Selection Program
- McDonnell & Miller RBT-3000 Low Water Cut-Off & Fuel Economizer
Additionally, a big highlight of the Show for us was the announcement at our Tuesday afternoon press conference that Xylem’s Bell & Gossett Little Red Schoolhouse had been approved by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) as a provider of continuing education for LEED professionals.
What this means is that the Schoolhouse’s Large Chilled Water Design Seminar and Modern Hydronic System Design Basic Seminar are the first such courses to be approved by GBCI to provide credit toward the credential maintenance requirements of the LEED Green Associate and LEED AP certifications. These courses focus on the application of pumps and related products to enable water and energy conservation, and improve building system efficiency.
Technology, innovation, and attendees made this show in Chicago a success. Talking to a fellow exhibitor at the Show, Karl Schneider from FieldAware said, “This is the first time we’ve been to this show, and we are amazed at the size and diversity of the attended base.” Yes, a great crowd to get the exhibitors and industry pumped up for 2012.
